Junior shortstop Lucely Kutz has helped the Lady SaberCats to a 27-12 record and huge wins over Deer Creek and Jenks in the Regional Tournament. Southmoore will take on Mustang in the opening round of the State Tournament on Oct. 15th. Mustang finished the regular season 26-7.
Kutz said she has a philosophy she follows during every game and every play.
“Mistakes happen, it’s how you come back,” said Kutz.
The junior also pointed to a teammate who left an impression on her from the first day they met.
“Kaylee Baxter, because we walked into a new school together not knowing anyone really and have been bsfs ever since,” said Kutz.
Away from the diamond, Kutz said she and her teammates are not just defined as athletes. What the future holds for the junior is unclear, but her focus at the moment is helping her team win and creating great memories for herself and her teammates.
Kutz said she would like to give a shoutout to Scotty Smith and Mikayla Smith.
