Southmoore head coach Zac George said Hayze Ivey is certainly someone people should be watching this season.
“Hayze has an outstanding work ethic and aggressive approach to training,” said coach George.
We caught up with Ivey as the season gets into full swing to learn more about this outstanding wrestler.
VYPE: What do you love most about your team and teammates at Southmoore?
Ivey: What I love the most about my teammates is the commitment that we have to each other also the willingness to be successful, and knowing they have my back.
VYPE: What is your favorite subject in school and who is your favorite teacher?
Ivey: My favorite subject in school is math, I like math because I like solving problems. My favorite teacher is Mr. Rideout, he has taught me a lot and has helped ignite my passion for learning.
VYPE: Who has been a big influence in your life, on or off the mat?
Ivey: The people that influence me the most are my parents. They have raised me is a Christian household where God comes first. My dad influences me by setting the standard and helping me understand the concept of responsibility by taking ownership of my actions and that every decision I make doesn’t just affect me. My mother influences me by teaching me to stand up for what’s right and for what I believe in. To always care for others and how to love unconditionally.
