There is a certain amount of work and preparation that is required no matter what sport an athlete plays. While some sports may require more time in the weight room and in others the athlete may have to spend more time working on conditioning, Paicer Zehr who plays soccer, says that practice is a key to being your best.

“It has taken a lot of practice and hard work to be successful,” he said. “All of my teammates always want to work hard at training so it becomes easier for everybody to get better every day.”

Paicer is a junior at Southmoore High School. He plays right back, wing, and striker on the Sabercats soccer team. He began playing soccer when he was five years old, and he enjoys the game as much or more now than he did when he first started.

Throughout his life Zehr has had people that have helped guide him and develop him into the person and the athlete that he has become.
“My biggest role models in my life are my parents and my brothers,” he said. “They are always supporting me in what I do and are always giving me advice when I need it. Another would be my favorite teacher, Ms. Swartz. She is my English teacher and I always love visiting her. She is always very funny, and she has taught me to stay patient through the tough times.”

There have been special moments throughout Paicer’s athletic career that he has made with his teammates. While there may be a number of them, he says that there is one that stands out as his favorite.

“I would have to say that the highlight moment of my career was when I scored my first goal as a member of the varsity team,” he said. “I had been working hard for years to get a goal, so it was great to watch that one go in. It still means a lot to me today.”
