Logan Kretchmar of Southmoore High School may only be a freshman this year, but his impact is being felt as he has become one of the fastest swimmers on the team in multiple events.
We managed to pull him out of the water just long enough for us to get to know this underclassman better.
VYPE: Logan, you’re only a freshman, so how long have you been involved in the sport?
Kretchmar: I’ve been swimming competitively for three years.
VYPE: What do you enjoy most about your teammates at Southmoore?
Kretchmar: It’s my first year on this team, so just the opportunity to be part of this small group and learn to be a team together is cool. Even though swim can be very individual, it’s great to be part of a group that is encouraging and cheering each other on.
VYPE: What do you love most about being a student athlete at your school?
Kretchmar: Having fun with my team while doing something we enjoy. Trips to the meets while representing our school and community is a great opportunity.
VYPE: What do you enjoy doing in your free time?
Kretchmar: I’m also in band and jazz band, so between school, club swim, school swim and band, I have time for video games with friends and that’s about it.
